Welcome to St. Catherine's!
Dear Saint Catherine's Friends,
This is my last letter to you, as your Vicar. Today I sit with both joy and sadness. My heart is filled with the warmth of memories and my mind holds image of your faces and life moments. I prayed for each of you this morning by name, entrusting you into the everlasting arms of God. May you know that you are held and loved. Always.
I had a meaningful time with Rev. Angus on Wednesday, and he is looking forward to beginning with you this Sunday, as you continue your Lenten Pilgrimage. God is near. Rev. Angus will be with you until July 2025.
On Sunday, March 16th, 2025, Rev. Angus steps into the role of Priest in Charge of Saint Catherine's. He will provide oversight for all the ministry streams, and will be onsite at the church on the days he is working (still to be defined). Rev. Sharon will be in a small support role, offsite, providing guidance and support for the property development and Seize the Day campaign.
May the peace of Christ, that transcends all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Amen.
In Faith, Hope and Love,
Rev. Sharon

Introducing: Rev. Dr. Angus StuartInterim Priest at St. Catherine's To everyone at St. Catherine’s Anglican Church in Edgemont Village: I wanted to write a few words by way of introduction and to say how much my wife Christine and I are looking forward to spending the next three and a half months journeying with you in this time of transition between priests.
Christine and I emigrated from the UK in 2005 (we just had our 20th anniversary of being in Canada!) along with our son Aaron and daughter Anna (aged 14 and 11 at the time) and our two cats, Jake and Elwood (sadly no longer with us). We came because I was appointed rector at St. Francis-in-the-Wood, West Vancouver, where I remained until my retirement in 2021. Christine quickly found work at Collingwood School, initially teaching kindergarten and then as Director of Primary Program (JK-Gr.3) from which she will be retiring this summer.
Before coming to Canada, I had been a chaplain at the University of Bristol for nine years and, before that, a curate in Twickenham in the Diocese of London. I studied theology and did my ordination training at Cranmer Hall in St. John’s College, Durham. In another lifetime, before theological college, I was a research fellow in social statistics at City University in London having done a first degree in geography and then a PhD looking into the experiences of people ageing in changing urban neighbourhoods in north-west London.
Since retirement, aside from a total eight months as interim priest at St. John’s Anglican Church in Port Moody, I have been greatly enjoying and benefitting from a regular yoga and Pilates practice at Yyoga in Lynn Valley (where we live), as well as hiking in the forests on our doorstep, and we recently completed a modest home renovation, adding a second bathroom and converting our garage into usable living space, not least as a place to keep and listen to my ridiculously large music collection (mostly “all rockin’ rhythm’n’jazz”!).
That’s probably enough for now. We are greatly looking forward to meeting you and getting to know and walking this bit of the road together in these troubled and uncertain times…
Elbows up!
Angus Stuart |

Thank you for a wonderful Send Off!Soul Food Sunday - Farewell to Vicar, Rev. Sharon On Sunday March 9th, 2025, the Saint Catherine's Community gathered around tables for a Lenten Feast on Soul Food Sunday. The breakfast was delicious, as usual and we reflected on 'Beginning the Lenten Journey', and "Packing Lightly".
Rev. Sharon invited us to: CONSIDER WHAT JOURNEY YOU ARE BEGINNING
We ended with cake (of course!) and I received a lovely bunch of flowers with lots of hugs and goodbyes.
Thank you St. Catherine's Community for all the love and learnings over these years. Your faith has enriched me.
Rev. Sharon
