The 2024 Parish Council met for its Retreat on Saturday, 6 April, at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in West Vancouver, joined by other community leaders for the first part of the retreat. The objectives of the retreat included building relationships, understanding each member’s roles in the different Ministry streams, and recognising how it all comes together to assist in the functioning of the community and the church. Rev. Sharon Salomon shared some tools and guidance using “Family Systems Theory” for our leadership as we go through this coming year, especially with our building renovation project. Rev. Sharon Smith led a review of our Ministry Plan, with a group discussion on how to further develop these goals and help in implementing our Plan. These activities were then prioritised by the new Parish Council, and will be some of the areas of focus for the coming year.

As a new member of the Parish Council, I found the Retreat a useful team-building experience.
