On June 23rd, Saint Catherine's community gathered for a deeply meaningful service, guided by resources from the Self-Determining Indigenous Church within the Anglican Church of Canada. This special service honored the rich cultural heritage and spiritual contributions of Indigenous peoples, reinforcing our commitment to justice and reconciliation -- in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

The liturgy and prayers, prepared by the Anglican Council of Indigenous People, were led by a diverse group of elders, clergy, and lay people. Their decades of work have called the entire church to support Indigenous struggles for self-determination, treaty and land rights, and respect for Mother Earth.

Through the readings, songs, and reflections, we were reminded of the sacred connection to the land, the strength of community, and the ongoing journey toward healing and reconciliation.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and worship together, inspired by the wisdom and resilience of Indigenous peoples. This service was a call to action, inviting us to engage more deeply in reconciliation and justice. May we continue to honor and celebrate Indigenous contributions in our church and beyond.
