As we face challenging times, the need for community support is more crucial than ever. We are excited to announce a new initiative together with Harvest Project, which aims to address food emergencies in the North Shore and is set to start on February 14th, Wednesday at 2 p.m.
We are reaching out to our community members because we believe your compassion and dedication can make a significant impact.
Our Food Emergency Program is designed to provide immediate assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity on the North Shore, provide essential sustenance, as well as cultivate a sense of belonging and shared responsibility within our community. At the core of our Food Emergency Initiative is a simple yet powerful idea: neighbours helping neighbours.
How Can You Help?
We are seeking passionate and committed volunteers to join us in various roles, including but not limited to:
Food Distribution: Assist in handing out emergency groceries to our guests.
Receptionist: To welcome and check guests in.
Ushers: To welcome guests, lead them in the right direction, and converse with them.
Coffee and Team Lead: To prepare coffee, and tea for our guests.
How to Get Involved:
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for our Food Emergency Program, please email Marymil community_engagement@shaw.ca.
A session will also be held soon for more details about the program, discuss volunteer roles, and answer any questions you may have.
