The following letter was sent from the Diocese of New Westminster to St. Catherine's Church following the consecration and installation of Bishop Melissa Skelton on March 1, 2014.
Dear Christine,
The consecration and installation of a bishop is a very special moment in the life of a diocese:
New Westminster's events on March 1st provided a wonderful opportunity for our diocesan
family to celebrate together and welcome our new bishop. The vision for this day was
embraced by the planning committee and then only realized because of the good and hard
work of many, many people.
We would like to express our thanks to the members of St. Catherine who served as
communion administrators. We would be grateful if you could pass on our appreciation to the
whole parish when you are gathered for Sunday worship.
We have heard so many positive comments about the day-the spirit, the energy, the creativity,
the hospitality: thank you for the part you and your parish played.
With many thanks,
The Very Revd Peter Elliott, Dean and Chair of the Consecration Planning Committee
The Right Revd Melissa Skelton, Bishop
