St. Catherine's Preschool Students Released Butterflies In The Memorial Garden

The preschool has been raising butterflies since 2013. We purchase our kits from FlutterBuys in Langley each year. This year, we received 30 caterpillars on May 15th. Each day the children would take turns coming into the office to see the caterpillars as they prepared to form their chrysalides. This took about 10 days of waiting and watching. They were then transferred into the aquarium and after another 5 days, one by one they started to emerge as beautiful Painted Butterflies. We kept them in the classroom for another week and they ate orange slices and drank orange Gatorade. This week the children watched as they were all released into the Memorial Garden.
