“To challenge children, youth, and adults both spiritually and physically in a camping context so that they may be brought into a closer relationship with God and each other in a loving community.” this is Camp Artaban's mission which resonates with Saint Catherine's.
Camp Artban's office has been at Saint Catherine's since the mid 1960s. "We are pleased to have been with the church for over 60 years," said David, Camp Artaban's admin.
Camp Araban is a unique, waterfront, island setting where campers are challenged to be their best in a safe, Christian, inclusive community. It was established in 1923 and it will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this 28th of October.
Over the years thousands of children, youth and families have had the amazing experience of Christian camping at Artaban.
According to David, Faith, Fellowship and Fun are the best words to describe Camp Artaban. "Faith means we spend time worshipping and exploring our relationship with Jesus and how we move forward with God in our daily lives. Fellowship means life long friendships are made at camp. Fun, fun, fun, means swimming, archery, crafts, sports, campfire, boating, hiking, climbing The Wall and hanging with your friends; Fun, Fun Fun."
This years summer schedule is almost over however Camp Artaban will have an event called 'Harvest Weekend' this coming September 29th. This event is open to campers of all ages.
For its 100th anniversary, Camp Artaban will be holding a gala and a fundraiser. It will be a glamorous night of incredible food, performances and fundraising. There will also be a number of special 100th items (shirts, water bottles, hoodies etc) available through its website campartaban.com in November.
