Soul Food Sunday is back!
Last Sunday, October 1st, we gathered with strangers and friends around the breakfast table to hear the liturgy, sacred story and share some of our own. While the adults, reflected on at time when they were aware of God in the
‘great cathedral’ of nature and discussed what does it mean to be a ‘fool’ in order to protect the earth from further harm?, the kids were busy decorating a memory board for animals who they have loved and who have died, in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi Day. A holy communion was followed and ended with a song.
This contemporary tradition has brought us closer as a community.
The beautiful music was played by HAYLEY FARENHOLTZ. Hayley has been working as a performing harpist for approximately 8 years. Hayley has performed at weddings, receptions, funerals, and events, both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble. She specializes in classical, Celtic, and folk music along with jazz and pop music arrangements.

On the first Sunday of the month at Saint Catherine’s, we gather for a breakfast meal known as Soul Food Sunday. We do not focus on worship and then eat together later, rather we understand the meal is an act of worship. Communing with each other, we share our faith stories around a breakfast feast.
