We asked for your support to:
1) Assist St Catherine’s to offset shortages in funding as we return to in-person services; and
2) Provide grocery vouchers to our neighbours in North Vancouver in lieu of our annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
Our target was to raise $16,000 between 20th September and 11th October 2020, split 50/50 between the two causes.
As of 21st October we have received $10 196.30 in donations from the St Catherine’s community, and we thank you all for your very generous support.
Of this, half has been credited to St Catherine’s Festival Gifts account to support St Catherine’s ministry during the coming months.
On Thursday 7th and Friday 9th October we delivered 160 food vouchers of $25 each to seven organizations we support in North Vancouver for a total of $4,000. These included: Pathways Mental Illness Society; Canadian Mental Health Association - North and West Vancouver; Seniors Hub;Turning Point; Neighbourhood House; andthe Harvest Project. We will also give an additional 10 vouchers to the John Braithwaite Centre next week.
With the additional $1,700 we’ve made since distributing the vouchers before Thanksgiving, we’d like to pass on an extra 34 vouchers to the community based on the 50/50 split. Parish Council motion last week agreed to offer additional vouchers through Neighbourhood House based on their continual need to distribute food baskets.
All our neighbours have expressed gratitude for the vouchers, and appreciate the generosity of St Catherine’s during this time of COVID-19.
Many thanks to all at St Catherine’s!
Should you wish to provide additional support to this appeal, please leave an envelope at the church office or in Sunday’s offertory, or donate online via the Canada Helps website to the fund "Thanksgiving Appeal 2020".
