One tradition that is particularly beloved by many during the Holidays is the Christmas gathering, where families and friends come together to celebrate the holiday season.
On December 19th, Tuesday, Saint Catherine's community members gathered at the chapel to ushered in the festive season and spread holiday cheer.
Everyone brought desserts to share, and enjoy a hot cup of chocolate or coffee.
The drop-in event started with a blessing by Rev. Sharon, followed by a game called 'Name That Carol,' where participants will guess the name of the carol being played in the piano. Winners received Starbucks venti thermal cups donated by Starbucks-Edgemont with stuffing.
After the guessing, and singing of carols, community members were asked to draw names for the next activity: Decorating and Exchanging of Christmas cards. Christmas cards are an integral part of the Christmas celebration, and at the Christmas gathering, this tradition is cherished. Each person enthusiastically decorated and customized a card dedicated to their drawn names. After carefully decorating cards, participants exchange their cards.
From heartfelt messages to humorous jokes, each card holds a special meaning. It was a moment of joy and connection, as community members share their stories and express their gratitude for the relationships they have with one another.
Christmas gatherings would not be complete without sharing stories that are cherished and remembered year after year. Each community member were asked to answer the question, "What was your most memorable Christmas?" From funny anecdotes to heartwarming tales, these stories bring laughter and nostalgia. Each person has their own unique story to tell, adding to the tapestry of Christmas memories.
The event ended with Christmas carols that left hearts aglow and spirits lifted in the warm embrace of Christmas cheer. The shared joy and camaraderie filled the venue with an infectious warmth, making it a truly heartwarming experience.
