Last Sunday, following the St. Catherine's Day service, our Art Wall of Remembrance located in our chapel, was blessed by the Bishop John R. Stephens.
This special moment was a heartfelt occasion for our community, as the wall, adorned with meaningful artwork and commemorative pieces, now stands as a tribute to those who have passed. The Archbishop's blessing imbued the space with spiritual significance, offering prayers for peace, remembrance, and the eternal rest of those honored. The Art Wall serves as a lasting memorial, connecting our past with our present, while providing a place for reflection and prayer for all who visit.
A huge thank you to our People's Warden Rhonda Garton, who prepared the wall beautifully. Lynn Spence's memorial garden water colour looks beautiful on the wall. And thanks to all who brought in photos.
Below is a prayer written by the Rev. Sharon Smith:
“All Loving, Creator God, we thank you that you have put it into the hearts of your people to make offerings for the beautification of this church. Be with us now and bless us as we dedicate this art wall to your praise and glory.
We pray for each person whose photo reminds us of their life on earth. We pray also for the members of the community who hold love and memory in their hearts.
And we pray for future art exhibits, may they be for us an inspiration
to love God, to love our neighbours and to care for all creation, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
