After the second anniversary of the fatal heat dome, and British Columbia's worst wildfire season that killed 619 people, environmental advocates BC Climate Emergency Campaign and Frack Free BC co-hosted a press conference titled "SOS: Save Our Summers. B.C. Needs a Real Climate Plan and an End to Fracking," which took place in front of B.C. Premier David Eby's Office.
Emiko Newman, Coordinator of BC Climate Emergency Campaign shared an update about the success of the said press conference.
Six wonderful speakers: Joyce Parry-Moore, the Anglican Minister of Climate Justice; Dr. Melissa Lem, family physician and president of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment; Zoha Faisal, co-founder of Climate Recentered; Ben Ernst, co-founder of Earnest Ice Cream; Michaela Rocha, Activism Team Lead with Patagonia; and Peter McCartney, Climate Campaigner with the Wilderness Committee shared why British Columbia needs a real climate plan, the dangers of fracking and demonstrated why everyone needs to stay informed and take soem actions.
Zoe Kompst of the Musqueam Nation provided a beautiful welcome.
